Award-winning , Greek – Cypriot  soprano Cleo Mitilineou holds a MA degree with honors  in Singing – Music Teaching and in Opera from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music-State University of Budapest.

She is also a holder of the Diploma of Associate ( Piano teacher) of the London College of Music ( Thames Valley University). She furthered her studies at the Opera studio of the Hungarian State Opera between 2001-2003. In 2001 she made her debut as Juliette in Gounod’s Romeo and Juliette, after being chosen by the legendary Hungarian conductor Ervin Lukács. Since then she has been singing leading roles with the Hungarian State Opera and other companies.

Recipient of several international awards-including the special prize in the Don Giovanni Singing Competition in Verona, first prizes in the Miskolc Opera Festival Competition and in Haydn competition in Hungary-as well as winner of many scholarships such as the Magda Olivero scholarhip in the Francisco Vinias Singing Competition in Barcelona, Cleo Mitilineou has also been a semifinalist in the prestigious Cardiff Singer of the World  and in the Maria Callas Grand Prix, as well as a finalist in Franco Corelli competition in Italy.

She attended master classes by renowned opera figures, such as Virginia Zeani, Margarita Lilova, Eva Marton, Ilona Tokody, Renata Scotto, Ileana Cotrubas, Anna Reynolds , Polgár Laszlo , Renato Bruson, Nicolas Clapton , Antoine Palloc and Sherril Milnes.

Mitilineou has collaborated with eminent conductors including Carlo Rizzi, Michael Jurowski, Adam Medveczky, Tamas Pal, Zoltan Kocsis, Istvan Kovacs, Gergely Kesselyak, Ivan Parik , Carlo Montanaro and Maciej Zoltowsky, and has appeared as a soloist with distinguished orchestras , such as the Welsh National Philharmonic, the Hungarian National Philharmonic, the Cairo National Philharmonic, the Cyprus Symphonic Orchestra, the BM Duna Symphonic Orchestra, the T-Com Orchestra, and the Savaria Orchestra.

Her operatic repertoire encompasses a wide range of roles, such as Suzanna in Le Nozze di Figaro and Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Musetta in La Boheme, Norina in Don Pasquale, Adina in L’Elisir d’amore, Frasquita in Carmen and Clorinda in La Cenerentola, among others. Zerlina was the role she sang the most , in Hungary and in Austria ( Gars am Kamp, Opera s festival) and she was invited to sing Musetta  in Cluj Napoca, Kolozvar Hungarian Theatre in Romania apart from Budapest.  At the moment she is working on more lyric repertoire such as Liu and Rusalka.

Active on the concert platform, Cleo Mitilineou has sung in Haydn’s The Creation for Cairo Opera, in Halevy’s La Juive –in the Budapest Jewish Festival, in Ravel’s Seherezade at the Italian Institute , in Mozart’s Requiem and in Mahler’s Fourth and eighth symphony at the Palace of Arts.

Ms. Mitilineou also gave many song , opera, Operett and musical recitals in Budapest, London, Cairo and Alexandria, in Slovakia  and Cyprus.

She performed in her home country   for the first time in 2003 in a song recital at the Rialto theatre, followed by another recital at the Markidion theatre. Moreover she was invited to perform  with the Cyprus State Orchestra – Strovolos Municipality theatre and Rialto theatre ,  with the Emmelia Choir – conducted by Ms. Eleni Kyprianou (  Pasydy and Pattihion theatres), and with the Pafos Municipality Children’s Choir – conducted by Ms.Kleopatra Kotsoni.

Her most recent concerts in Cyprus were  at the Casteliotissa hall, ( hosted by the Pharos Trust )  , a concert at the Meseoniki Epavli – Musio ( hosted by the Kouklia council and the Ministry of Education and Culture) and a concert at the Pallas theatre ( Nicosia, hosted by the Hungarian Embassy).

She collaborated with the talented Cypriot composers Phytos Stratis and Costantinos Stylianou  performing the world premier for the songs, Eros anikate , Semelas and the song Tou Ikarou .

Cleo Mitilineou represented Greece and Cyprus in the prestigious International Opera festival of Miskolc giving a song recital with the renowned accompanist Harazdy Miklos. She has received the press praise for her wonderful singing and her unique stage presence.

Mitilineou has appeared in many tv and radio interwiews with Ert sat, Rik, Hungarian M1 and the BBC of Whales. In 2002 and 2004 she worked in 2 very famous shows for TV2  named “Fantastic Europe” , next to Friderikusz Sandor, and ” Songs League”,  earning herself  fame and recognition as a tv star by the Hungarian public. She has been a frequent guest for the hungarian tv channel Rtl klub in the morning show Csak Csajok.

Ms. Mitilineou teaches privately singing and piano and performs occasionaly in concerts. She is the founder of Sing along Gyerekek and an active member of the international womens club IWC.
